ENGLISH CLUBS CHAMPIONSHIP

SOUTH WEST LEAGUES

SOUTH WEST PRESENTATION EVENING - ST AUSTELL

The success of two Cornwall clubs was celebrated at the St Austell Brewery on Friday 23rd May.  The Brewery, home of Tribute Bitter, sponsors of 14 Leagues in the South West welcomed around 100 officials,  players and supporters as Saltash and Illogan Park were presented with their plaques for winning Tribute Cornwall One and Tribute Cornwall Two.

Saltash ended their season with only two defeats in their 16 league games, including one against eventual runners up Helston.  They made mathematically certain of the title on the final day of the season with a narrow 6-5 win away to Liskeard-Looe and will now take their place in the Tribute Cornwall/Devon League next season.

Illogan Park won Tribute Cornwall Two at a march with only one defeat in their 14 games to win the league by six points from nearest rivals Redruth Albany, the only team to beat them in the league this season.

Camborne were presented with the "You've earned it" Award for their endeavours throughout the season.  Despite losing all but two of their games, the club honoured every first team league fixture and battled on despite being at the bottom of Tribute South West 2 West all season.

Mike Gee, the South West's Co-ordinating League Secretary, congratulated the clubs on their success and paid "tribute" to the involvement of the St Austell Brewery.  "Their sponsorship of 14 of our leagues across the South West has been welcomed by the clubs who have not only received liquid benefit behind the bar but also by way of promotional material and on the field items including match balls and water bottles.  We look forward to working with them again next season".
